Description

I took this photo last year on my birthday as we were on the way home driving on the freeway going past the city of Carson where the blimp is normally parked. It has just taken off and was advertising something on it's digital screen ( the red letters ) . It was rather difficult for me to hang out of the window while my husband drove at high speed to take this photo. Since it is now decommissioned, I though I would lovingly share this photo with you. The Spirit of Innovation has been a fixture here for years flying over an assortment of sports venues, parades and other major events. I always smiled seeing it and always wanted to sign up for those rare instances when one could actually take a ride in it.

Its replacement, Wingfoot One, is in fact a semi-rigid airship—you could also use the word zeppelin—but Goodyear still intends to call it a blimp.
